Baby Billy is now 2 months old - going on 3 months. Things are getting much easier now. Thanks to copious amounts of Infacol we are finished with the colic crying that had been keeping us up until 2 or 3am every night. Although we now have to contend with teething - which has started very early! But the teething crying is a walk in the park compared to colic! At the moment Billy goes to bed around 10pm and gets up around 5am - if he can just sleep for one more hour then it would be perfect!
We are starting to get out and about a bit more on the weekends - we’ve been to 2 restaurants for lunch and have been to most of Cambridge’s tea rooms. I have been making friends with other mums - Great Eastern Street is more commonly known as ’stork central’ because of all the babies here. Now that I’m not so sleep deprived and Billy is more content, we are mostly out every week day meeting up for coffees or lunches with other mums - it’s much nicer than going to work!
As well as a new tooth, Billy is also growing some hair - it looks like he is going to have a permanent quiff just like his dad! He has got a fantastic smile - sometimes he wakes me up at 4.30am but when I look in his cot and he gives me a smile I don’t care! I must not let his cute-as-a-button baby face make me too soft otherwise he’ll have me well and truly wrapped around his little finger! He starting to grab toys (although he doesn’t know how to let them go once he’s got hold of them) and he enjoys a sing-along to Nellie the Elephant. He is also starting to talk and his favourite word is ‘ngar’.
Our next challenge is public transport - next week we are taking a bus for the first time. We also have to go for Billy’s jabs, which he is going to hate!

Dear all,
It’s been a while since our last post, but that’s because up until now there hasn’t been much going on with us. But since the birth of baby William on 12th November I can safely say that there will never be another dull moment and our lives will never be the same again!

Kate and I went into Rosie Maternity yesterday to have the 20 week scan so I thought I’d post a couple of pictures here. The scan went fine, and all seems to be well with code name “Bernard” though we have to go back next week so the sonographer can take a better look at his heart.
In case you hadn’t guessed we know it’s a boy now, though Bernard is a code name rather than our chosen name - our parents won’t let us get away with “Bernard” I fear! Time to stick our naming hats on and have a think.
It’s really weird looking at our baby-to-be through the scan, seeing him move around pretty energetically and the scan showing up his bone structure and vital organs. Can’t wait for November (though not so sure Kate is looking forward to that bit!)…

It is with quite some anticipation I write this at the end of my final day at work. In a day and a half, no less, Kate and I will be married. Can’t wait, quite frankly. Though I may get rather nervous tomorrow!
We’re going to post the occassional message from our St. Lucian paradise, so check back after the wedding for more messages. Pictures will be posted on our website once we get back.
See you all Saturday!
love Simon & Kate

Well, what a lovely stay we have had in Singapore. Because the exchange rate is so good we spent 2 gorgeous nights at a 6 star hotel - the Ritz Carlton Millenia, on Raffles Avenue. I personally would have liked to spend the entire stop-over in our luxury bathroom (of my dreams) but Simon insisted we had to go out and explore the city.

New Year’s day was mostly spent lazing on the beach, it was a record 44.2 degrees - the second hottest day on record. Bush fires predictably blazed as we swam and relaxed. What is it with this madly hot weather, seems to follow us everywhere. Except, I predict, back home in Blightly - where I hear it’s a thrilling 2 degrees!
